They have friendly and expert advisors who have helped thousands of people like you quit smoking. They understand what it’s like to quit smoking and can provide a range of proven methods to help you quit.

They can also advise you on quitting aids and stop smoking medication, and provide you with the best option for you (prescription charges may be payable).

There are many benefits of quitting smoking and support from a Stop Smoking Adviser increases your chance of stopping for good. Some pharmacies in North Tyneside are able to offer free support.

Over the course of 12 weeks, you’ll work with your adviser to choose an appropriate treatment, learn how to use the treatment correctly, and come up with a plan tailored to your lifestyle to help you deal with cravings.

As well as accessing local community pharmacies, residents can now book face to face appointments with Stop Smoking Specialists at four different locations across the borough for free.

The team are working from the White Swan Centre in Killingworth, Northumberland Park Medical centre in Shiremoor, Wallsend Community Hub and Library, and Shields Health Hub in North Shields.

*You must be a resident of North Tyneside and/or registered with a North Tyneside GP to qualify for free support.

In Gateshead, you can get help and support from one of our stop smoking advisers. The stop smoking adviser will provide you with free expert advice and guidance during the first few weeks of stopping.

They will also advise on what stop smoking medicine is best for you.

You decide on a quit date, and plan a course of weekly appointments with the advisor.

If you live or work in County Durham, our service can offer you an individual quit programme for up to 12 weeks.

You will be offered weekly tailored advice and support from a Specialist Practitioner to help plan and manage your quit attempt. We are a vape/e-cigarette friendly service and can offer a choice of stop smoking medications and aids.

We work alongside the NHS, local pharmacies, and a range of other organisations to support your journey to becoming smoke free.

The Darlington Stop Smoking Hub provides a single point of access for you as a smoker in the Borough of Darlington seeking advice and support to quit.

The Hub provides a range of information and tools, including telephone or online support, for you to stop smoking.

We also provide face-to-face specialist stop-smoking support. Access to this service is via a referral to the Hub. This specialist service offers intensive, evidence based support provided by specially trained staff and includes the option of pharmacotherapy.
