More Ways to Quit
More Ways to Quit is a brand new campaign and resources platform in collaboration between Fresh and the 12 local authorities in the North East.
The suite of printed and digital resources and campaign activity is designed to help people who smoke in the North East feel more confident about stopping, and to connect them with a range of more effective ways to quit.
We have produced a range of materials to enable local leads to support the key messages and raise awareness of the range of quit support in localities, from posters and flyers to social media resources and screens.
Smoking Survivors
“Smoking Survivors” is our current campaign first launched in 2023 to highlight the life-changing experiences from former smokers in the North East.
All our survivors have bravely shared their emotional stories highlighting the harm of smoking and the benefits of quitting to encourage people who smoke to put smoking behind them.
Tobacco Smoke is Poison
The Tobacco Smoke is Poison platform is a suite of health promotion resources for partners working in health and in local communities.
It is aimed at raising awareness about the risks of secondhand tobacco smoke for children and adults, with a particular focus on parents, families and carers.
These resources are free to download for partners working in the North East and North Cumbria and include training resources for staff.
Don’t Wait – resources for NHS
Don’t Wait is a campaign developed in 2020 which has been adapted for NHS settings, featuring an intervention from Dr Ruth Sharrock.
Smoking worsens winter pressures on the NHS. Tobacco smoking not only causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, COPD and dementia but during the winter when demand on the NHS is at its highest, smokers suffer more severely from respiratory viruses such as flu.
This toolkit is aimed at helping partners to raise the topic of smoking and support the work of the Tobacco Dependency Treatment Services within patient settings.
